ABOUT

BEN RHYDDING LODGE was consecrated in 1929 and continues to meet under warrant issued by The United Grand Lodge of England.

Located in Ilkley, a spa town on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales the Lodge meets regularly between October and May each year. The Installation of the Worshipful Master takes place on the
3rd Wednesday in May, before the Lodge closes for the Brethren to enjoy their summer recess.

Ben Rhydding Lodge is one of the 31 Lodges in Area 3, of
The Province of Yorkshire, West Riding.

Lodges meet in 13 Masonic Halls spread across the area as follows:
Barnoldswick (2), Bentham (1), Guiseley (1), Harrogate (6), Ilkley (3), Knaresborough (2), Otley (6), Pateley Bridge (1), Ripon (2), Settle (2), Skipton (2), Waddington (1) and Wetherby (2).

The Masonic Hall, Ilkley is located immediately behind the world famous, Box Tree restaurant. There are three Masonic Lodges that meet in the Masonic Hall, Ben Rhydding Lodge who meet on a Wednesday, Olicana Lodge who meet on a Tuesday and Lodge of King Arthur who meet on a Friday evening.

Each of the Lodges has its own identity and unique features but all abide by the rules set out in the United Grand Lodge of England, Book of Constitutions. The three Lodges are very supportive of each other and a warm welcome is always extended when visiting.

Monthly meetings generally consist of a number of informal practices, allowing the Brethren to prepare for the Regular Lodge meeting. Regular meetings are formal and may take the form of a presentation of an antient masonic ceremony or a talk on a masonic subject. Once the business of the Lodge has been completed the Brethren retire to the bar and enjoy a festive board in the company of other like minded individuals.
